TUITION BURSARY PROGRAM

The Vancouver Island School of Art is excited to launch its Tuition Bursary Program. This program has been designed to give people who cannot afford to take an art workshop or course, the chance to do so. There are several types of bursaries, so please read through the following before filling out an application.


Chantelle Parent received a $1000 Tuition Bursary to pay for some of her courses in her final year of the Diploma of Fine Arts program at VISA.

All bursaries are awarded based on financial need and level of interest in art. All bursaries require a completed application form.

Types of Bursaries

Newcomers Workshop Bursary: For people who have never attended VISA. This bursary will cover the cost of a workshop (3, 6 or 12 hours). Supply fees are included so there will be no cost to the recipient. This bursary is only available as a one-time award.

Newcomers Course Bursary: For people who have never attended VISA. This bursary will cover the cost of a 12-week course as well as $100 material fee. This bursary is only available as a one-time award.

Program Student Bursary: For students who are in a Certificate of Visual Arts or Diploma of Fine Arts program. This bursary will cover one or more 12-week courses. Students have to be in good standing (B+ or higher average). Students who receive a Program Student Bursary must be able to pay for their own supplies.

Mary Cassatt Bursary: For single mothers who want to take a 12-week course. This bursary is open to new, current and previous students.

VISA Loyalty Bursary: For non-program students who have taken six or more courses at VISA but cannot afford registration in another. This bursary is for a 12-week course.

Application for a VISA Tuition Bursary

People interested in applying for a VISA Tuition Bursary must meet the following requirements:

Bursary applications will be reviewed by the Bursary Selection Committee consisting of the Director and one or two faculty members. Decisions by the Committee are final. Applicants are invited to apply for bursaries more than once (except for the Newcomers Bursary).
