Collagraphs: Textural Exploration in Printmaking (PRNTs205-18)

A collagraph is the process of making a print from a textured collage surface. Students will learn expressive ways to use material and processes in printmaking in this course. The focus will be on various collagraphic techniques, with students learning how to develop a multi-levelled textured surface that can later be enhanced or augmented with other media. Blind embossing and chine colle will also be examined. Course will include hands-on demonstrations and time allocated to work on the press.

Photo-Based Printmaking (PRNTs206-18)

This course introduces students to expressive ways to use photographic source material as a departure point in printmaking. The focus will be on various techniques including lithography, stencils and masks and image transfer. Blind embossing and chine collé will also be examined. Course will include hands-on demonstrations and time allocated to work on the press.
