Guidelines for Submitting Teaching Proposals

The Vancouver Island School of Art is open to accepting proposals for workshops, either week-long workshops (from June-August) or one- or two-day weekend workshops (year round). The minimum requirements to teach a workshop at the Vancouver Island School of Art are that a candidate must be a working artist or other professional with extensive knowledge in their field of expertise, as well as have had some teaching experience.

Please include the following information in your proposal.

  1. A detailed description of the proposed workshop including:

§         the type of subject matter you wish to cover;

§         how the material will be spaced over a one-day, two day or week long period;

§         what materials will be used;

§         what the students can expect to learn or accomplish over the duration of the workshop.

  1. At least ten examples of your own work in slide or digital format (this does not necessarily have to reflect the material covered in the proposed workshop).

  1. The names and contact information (phone and e-mail) of three references familiar with your teaching history.

  1. Curriculum Vitae.

We advise that you take the time to refer to our website and review the kind of workshops we currently offer as well as what we have offered in the past before you propose something to us.  Click on ‘WORKSHOPS’ to find out more. Information on previous workshop offerings can be found by clicking on ‘Archives’ at the end of the COURSES section.
