VISA’S PERMANENT HOME HAS BEEN APPROVED

The Vancouver Island School of Art’s new home went through final approval by the City of Victoria’s Mayor and Council on September 5. The new space will be part of a new rental development (Ross Terrace) on Fifth Street between Bay St and Kings Rd. VISA will have 6600 square feet which will include classroom space, 15 studio spaces, a library/lounge, an art gallery (The Slide Room Gallery), two offices and storage space. The front of the school and gallery will be at street level with store front windows. The plan is to move into the space and start classes in the Spring of 2021. This is an unprecedented collaboration between a private developer (Purdey Group) and an arts organization (Vancouver Island School of Art).

We will remain on the second floor of the former Blanshard Elementary School (950 Kings Rd, across from Caffe Fantastico) until early Spring 2021. Please visit us soon!
