While navigating through an abundance of unverified content and digitally-constructed realities on a daily basis, we continuously have to decipher what is real and what is fake. As the definition of “real” itself becomes vague, this drawing course embraces this uncertainty and attempts to redefine what realist drawing can be. Students will examine precedent works of realism and learn techniques of representational drawing before experimenting with new methods of depicting reality. Through in-class exercises and assignments, students will explore different ways of capturing reality by illustrating physical forms, movement, time, and narratives. Suitable for all levels.
