Nature Drawing on Mylar

Make expressive drawings of plants on the beautiful satin-like and resistant surface of Mylar.

More details

This workshop will take inspiration from botanical subject matter as you discover the excitement of drawing on Mylar. Artists love this archival polyester film because its surface quality makes it suitable for a range of drawing media including graphite, charcoal and watercolour. Its surface is satiny smooth and semi-transparent so it can be used over a photographic reference or you can superimpose two or more sheets to create interesting effects. This workshop will introduce you to a variety of mark-making techniques that are unique to Mylar. A range of drawing materials will be used as we make close observations of plants and flowers. The instructor will present examples of historical and contemporary work that uses nature as the subject to give you additional ideas about approaches and methods. Suitable for all levels. All supplies included. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 10AM - 4:30PM IN-PERSON
