The second part of Painting: The Canadian Landscape covers the period from the 1970s to landscape painting that is being done today. The course will cover how various movements and ideas such as conceptual art, neo-expressionism, new figuration, painting in the expanded field, critical approaches, etc., factor into Canadian artists' engagement with the landscape. Artists covered include Joyce Weiland, Alex Colville, John Hartman, Takao Tanabe, Paterson Ewen, Anne Kipling, Annie Pootoogook, Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun, Toni Onley, Gordon Smith, Kim Dorland, Etienne Zack, Kent Monkman, Landon MacKenzie, Sandra Meigs, Wanda Koop, Ben Reeves, and Monica Tap. Students may paint in a medium of their choice including watercolour, gouache, acrylic or oils. It is not necessary to have taken Painting: Canadian Landscape I to enrol in the second part of this course. Some painting experience is recommended. WEDNESDAYS, JAN 10 - APR 3, 6PM - 9PM ONLINE
