Quilting & Embroidery: Mapping & Memory
A contemporary approach to traditional craft techniques.
In this craft-focused course, students will learn basic quilting, embroidery and cross stitch techniques with a focus on mapping and memory. Students will be given an opportunity to use digital applications to convert and manipulate their own images into stitching projects. The assignments will challenge students to develop work along the themes of mapping and memory and to draw from influences of contemporary artwork shown in class. Students will have opportunities to learn and develop skills in two-dimensional artwork, sculpture and book making. Previous experience with the craft skills and art mediums are not necessary; students will be supported and challenged at their skill level. Suitable for all levels.
