Items required for the first class:

- 9"x12 or larger sketchbook (preferably the kind with rings so pages can lie flat) or loose sheets of paper
- HB pencil
- eraser
- sharpener
- set of watercolours
- #10 watercolour brush
- jar of water
- coloured pencils

Items to be discussed during the first class:

Students can choose any painting medium to work with such as oil, acrylic, watercolour or gouache.

Painting:
- a good selection of colours, at least 2 of each of the primary and secondary colours (a warm and cool of each), two browns, black and white in your chosen medium
- medium (for acrylic or oil)
-odourless mineral spirits (for oil)
-brushes: a range of brushes from small to large, round and flat
-palette to mix paint on
-palette knives (metal for oil, plastic for water based medium)
-rags

Surfaces:
- canvas, cradled panels, paper, found wood etc

Drawing:
- pencil
- charcoal
