Supply List - Drawing: Thematic Approaches

Items required for the first class:

- Mixed-media sketchbook (8" x 10" or larger)

- 2 sticks black, 2 sticks white compressed charcoal (conte)

- graphite pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)

Additional Items to be discussed during the first class:

- coloured pencils (primary colours and black)

- blending stump (aka tortillon)

- pen

- water-soluble graphite

- Chinese ink

- bamboo brushes (small and medium)

- eraser (white vinyl)

- watercolours: travel sets or individual tubes (at least 3 different colours)

- plastic palette or small plate

- #12 watercolour brush (synthetic sable: buy a brush specifically for watercolours)

- oil pastels (primary colours, black, and white)

- rag (for clean up, wiping brushes)

- pad of newsprint

- few pieces of grey toned paper and a few pieces of black paper
