Supply List - Flora and Fauna
Items required for the first class:
- mixed media sketchbook*
- pencil
- chalk pastels - no less than 4 colours plus black and white (Mungyo, Schmincke, Rembrandt all fine). Most art supply stores allow you to buy single sticks pastels. You are also welcome to buy a small set of them.
- 1 white eraser
Additional Items to be discussed during the first class:
- at least 3 oil pastels, your choice of colours
- pencil sharpener
- 2H and 2B pencil
- 6 good quality pencil crayons, example- Faber-Castell or Prismacolor
- 2 brushes for ink and watercolour work
- one bottle of acrylic based ink, Winsor Newton, black
- 2 different coloured Sharpie markers
- Speedball 107 Hawk Quill nib and Speedball pen nib holder (Opus)
- small watercolour set with at least 8 colours, you can also use tubes of colours.
Bookbinding supplies:
- bulldog clips (2 large size)
- bookbinding needles, thread (can use embroidery floss, heavy weight thread, or bookbinding thread) and one to three bookbinding awls.
*Mixed Media Sketchbook: The following sketchbooks with links are examples, you do not have to buy these brands, just make sure that the paper in the sketchbook you purchase is for mixed media use, for both wet and dry media and at least 90 lb. Either 9”x 12” or 11”x14” is fine. Previously used sketchbooks are also fine, be sure to have at least 25-30 sheets.
