Supply List - Painting with Gouache
Gouache
• A good place to start is the Winsor & Newton Gouache Intro to Art Set of 10
• Please note that this workshop requires traditional gouache.
Paper
• pads or individual sheets. Look for smooth or cold press surface (i.e. Strathmore 400 series Heavy Weight Printmaking paper 8 x 10" or Strathmore Mixed Media 300 g). Check Michael's as they often have deals on pads of paper.
Tools:
• two or more palette knives either plastic or metal
• pad of disposable palette sheets (i.e. Strathmore 300 Palette Paper 9 x 12") or roll of parchment paper
• roll of paper towel
Brushes:
• If you have any watercolour brushes please bring them to class
• If you need to buy brushes, start with a couple of watercolour brushes that are round, small to medium size l(i.e. #6). Opus brands like Allegro or Galiano Watercolour Brushes would be a good start
• A great brush for gouache is the Princeton Chubby kid brush either flat or round at Opus. I discovered these versatile brushes when experimenting with gouache.
