Supply List - Painting with Gouache: Plants and Flowers
Gouache paint:
Recommended brand Winsor and Newton
Suggested colours: Winsor Red, Primary Yellow, Winsor Blue, Winsor Green, Winsor Violet, Orange Lake Light
(you can use other brands and colours but basically get: red, blue, yellow, green, orange and violet as all coloured can be mixed from these)
- titanium white (large tube)
- ivory black
Brushes
- watercolour brushes: synthetic round no. 12 and no. 4
Palettes
- palette for mixing paint: white plastic palette for watercolour, white ceramic plates or white lids from yogurt containers or a combination (or your preferred surface/method for mixing gouache paints)
Paper
- watercolour paper Arches 10 x 14 pad (or 2 sheets of Arches 22 x 30" watercolour paper, cold press)
-black watercolour paper Legends 10 x 14 pad or 1 sheet of Legends 22 x 30" black watercolour paper
(We will be using 1/4 sheets of full-sized paper so you can bring paper to the first class to learn how to tear or cut it, or do this on your own at home).
Bring all items to the first class. For the first class, we will use two 1/4 (11 x 15") sheets, so you can just bring those if you don't want to bring the entire paper supply.
A note on gouache paint: please note we are using regular gouache for this course and not “acrylic gouache”.
