Supply List - Textiles: Mending, Unraveling Weaving
Items required for the first class:
- fabric pieces
- embroidery needle
- embroidery cotton (2-3 colours minimum) or thin yarn (fits in your embroidery needle)
- personal textile item to patch
- paper or sketchbook and pencil
- medium size embroidery hoop (6-8”)
- fabric scissors
Additional items to be discussed during the first class:
- darning needle
- knit or crocheted wool object to take apart
- choice of felting needle, crochet hook or knitting needles (to be discussed in class)
- cardboard
- yarn, fingering or worsted weight in at least 3 different colour ways
- loom: Make your own PVC pipe loom for under $20 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kDTr-B-P7A) or a tapestry loom. (Everlea Tapestry Loom or Everlea Mini Loom: https://www.everleayarn.ca/collections/everlea-brand/looms)
- two tapestry needles or Everlea Weaving Needles
Supplies can be purchased in downtown Victoria at: Art World (860 Yates St), Island Blue (905 Fort St) or Opus (512 Herald St).
Local art supply stores have varying discount options for students. Monks and Opus offer membership programs for discounts. Check stores’ websites for details.
