Supply List - The Contemporary Portrait

Items required for the first class:

- pen/pencil

- sketchbook

- colour pencils (assortment of colours)

- a few sheet of Bristol (thick smooth paper), 9"x12"

Additional items to be discussed during first class:

- pencils: range from 4H - 8B

- conté crayon (black, white, sanguine)

- charcoal (compressed, vine)

- white vinyl eraser

- kneaded eraser

- watercolours: travel sets or tubes (red, blue, yellow, violet, orange, green)

- watercolour brushes

- oil pastels (assortment of colours)

- drawing board and 2 clips to hold drawing paper on board

- paints, primary colours + black and white (choice of oil, acrylic or watercolour)

- linseed oil, odourless paint thinner or turpentine (for oils)

- containers for linseed oil/odourless paint thinner/turpentine (oils) or water (acrylic/watercolour)

- 2 stretched canvases (they can range in size from 18"x24" to 36"x48")

- artist's palette

- rags or pieces of cloth for wiping paint brushes

- small palette knife

- various sizes of paint brushes
