Biography

Leah McInnis is an interdisciplinary visual artist, designer, arts-worker and educator currently based in Victoria, BC. Recent solo and two-person exhibitions include Club Assembly at ARTSPLACE (Annapolis Royal, NS), Mass at Open Space Arts Society (Victoria, BC) and Mood Swings at Flux Gallery (Winnipeg, MB). Her artwork and writing have been published locally, nationally and abroad. Since 2018, McInnis has completed artist residencies in Finland (Arteles Creative Centre), Alberta (Mitchell Art Gallery), Quebec (Murmur Land Studio) and BC (Empire of Dirt). McInnis holds an MFA (U. of Victoria), BFA (Emily Carr U.), BA (U. of Alberta) and a Dip. Fine Arts (MacEwan College). Her work in the arts is generously supported by the British Columbia Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. McInnis is a founding member of the conceptual artist collective, MOPE (Victoria, BC /Brooklyn, NY).
