Biography

Lycia (b. Belfast) grew up in Vancouver and taught in accredited institutions of higher education after receiving her Doctorate in 2005 and her MFA in 1991. She has been active in solo and group exhibitions in Canada, USA, Asia, Australia, and Northern Ireland. She has worked as a public Artist and installation Artist with several arts residencies under her belt. Lycia also writes and publishes about fine art and craft. Her artwork draws on her autobiography as it intersects with memory and trauma, together with visual and material art history and theory. One of her works is in the collection of the Peace Museum, Bradford, UK (see www.linenmemorial.org) which she also exhibited at two international Biennales. Her work has been generously supported by the BC Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts.
