Biography
Neil grew up in Quebec and received his MFA from the University of Victoria in 2014. He has had solo and group exhibitions in BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec and has worked as an art educator in a wide range of institutions, including the University of Victoria and the Art Gallery of Alberta. Neil draws on personal experience, memory, imagination, art history and cinematic influences to make paintings that engage narrative and symbol in the exploration of the quest for perfect happiness, the search for paradises on earth, and human relationships to nature. His paintings are in private and public collections including the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Colart Collection. He is a 2016 and 2020 grantee of Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation
