Discover Leah McInnis's background and education. Biography Leah McInnis is an interdisciplinary visual artist, designer, arts-worker and educator currently based in Victoria, BC. Recent solo and two-person exhibitions include Club Assembly at ARTSPLACE (Annapolis Royal, NS), Mass at Open Space Arts Society (Victoria, BC) and Mood Swings at Flux Gallery (Winnipeg, MB). Her artwork and writing have been published locally, nationally and abroad. Since 2018, McInnis has completed artist residencies in Finland (Arteles Creative Centre), Alberta (Mitchell Art Gallery), Quebec (Murmur Land Studio) and BC (Empire of Dirt). McInnis holds an MFA (U. of Victoria), BFA (Emily Carr U.), BA (U. of Alberta) and a Dip. Fine Arts (MacEwan College). Her work in the arts is generously supported by the British Columbia Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. This sketchbook will be used for writing out your story and for making the storyboard for your graphic novel. We will be discussing art supplies on the first day. What you will need to buy will depend on what materials you decide to create your graphic novel with. Some options are: watercolours, gouache, pencil crayon, India ink, and felt pen. While the instructor has experience and knowledge of all these media, the student is expected to have some knowledge of the medium they choose to work in for this course. If you are looking for a how-to-paint course, please consider our Painting: Introduction I course.
