Best is to go to Chinatown and find brushes (small or medium sized bamboo brushes). - Pens: Dip pens - pen holder and speedball C-5, C-6, and Hunt School Nib. Kuretake Bimoji brush pen. Fudenosuke brush pen - Paper: Look for an 11"x14" or 16" x 20" multi-media pad that takes watercolour and ink. If possible, Washi-like paper. Yasutomo Japanese Sketch paper pad 12 x 18, 9 x 12 is ok. Dollar stores can have surprisingly good sketchbooks with rice-like paper - Paint: Watercolours in tubes (gouache or acrylic gouache is also an option and can be used with watercolour) Turner and Holbein are my choices for colour quality. Lukas is a reasonable brand. Primary Colours - Other Supplies: Almost anything with a flat surface can be used as a palette, such as a white plastic or tear-strip palette, with plenty of room for mixing, Plastic containers The Vancouver Island School of Art is delighted to have a partnership with Opus Art Supplies.
