    Discover Andy Lou's background and education. Biography Andy Shutse Lou is a classically trained, award-winning artist based in Victoria, B.C., Canada. Born in China and educated in the United States, he holds an MFA from the University of North Texas and has taught contemporary Chinese brush painting across Canada, the U.S., and China. Blending Eastern tradition with Western innovation, Andy uses Chinese brushes, rice paper, and ink alongside watercolor, gouache, and acrylic to create vivid interpretations of North American landscapes. His work is known for dynamic color contrasts and a harmonious fusion of classical subtlety and modern expression. Internationally exhibited and collected, Andy’s art was featured in the 2024 exhibition Crossing at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Books (and magazines) you find at the library giveaway or sidewalk mini library. They can be large picture books on any subject, such as cookbooks, home interior and so on. They can be printed only, novels, non-fiction etc. To prime pages: gesso, acrylic medium, acrylics with brush or roller if available. Any drawing and painting materials you have at hand can be useful. Here are some suggestions but not necessary: Selection coloured pastels or nupastels. Pencils, ballpoint, Brush Pens: Pentel fude brush pen medium black, Kuretake fudepen 2-pack set, Sharpie (fat) Any of: watercolours in tubes, gouache and acrylics. India or acrylic black ink, Acrylic inks: (F&W Liquitex and Golden) all make good ones. Over the years Russ has volunteered on land use committees, neighbourhood community associations and professional panels. He is a collector of art, patron to artists and hobby artist primarily with respect to paintings on canvas. Russ has endless passion about all aspects of the art world from the prepping of a canvas to the tax mechanisms of art foundations.
