In this course you will explore various drawing techniques and materials to depict human faces and bodies. You will begin by considering the basic anatomy of the face and head before experimenting and learning about contour lines, faceted shapes, shading techniques, and basic colour theory. Subjects will be drawn from photographs and from life. Each project will be contextualized through examples of work by historical and contemporary artists. Materials used will include charcoal, black and white conté, water-soluble graphite, colour pencils, and chalk pastels. Suitable for all levels. WEDNESDAYS, MAY 20 - JUN 24, 6PM - 9PM(PDT) IN-PERSON
