Books (and magazines) you find at the library giveaway or sidewalk mini library. They can be large picture books on any subject, such as cookbooks, home interior and so on. They can be printed only, novels, non-fiction etc. To prime pages: gesso, acrylic medium, acrylics with brush or roller if available. Any drawing and painting materials you have at hand can be useful. Here are some suggestions but not necessary: Selection coloured pastels or nupastels. Pencils, ballpoint, Brush Pens: Pentel fude brush pen medium black, Kuretake fudepen 2-pack set, Sharpie (fat) Any of: watercolours in tubes, gouache and acrylics. India or acrylic black ink, Acrylic inks: (F&W Liquitex and Golden) all make good ones.     Discover David Good's background and education. David is a plein air painter who finds great inspiration in what he sees and feels in nature. As an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists his paintings can be seen online ( www.davidgoodpainter.com ) and at galleries in Victoria. He has 30 years of experience as a public servant working in Ottawa in the Canadian federal government including several Assistant Deputy Minister positions in central agencies and line departments. For 15 years he was a professor of public policy and public administration at the University of Victoria, teaching, mentoring, consulting, and researching. He is also the author of numerous publications and books in the field of public policy and public sector reform. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (PhD and MPP in public policy), the University of Pennsylvania (Masters in City Planning), and the University of Waterloo (BA in urban and regional planning). When not painting David can be found sailing, skiing, travelling, puttering around his coach house and garden in Rockland, or enjoying time with his family.     Discover Chantal New's background and education. Biography Chantal New is a multidisciplinary artist currently based in Victoria, BC. Her expanded drawing practice takes form across sculptural installation, collage, photography, and the re-contextualizing of found objects. The diverse approaches are utilised to address issues ranging from the political to the aesthetic. Her most recent body of work is an inquiry into the powerful and complex nature of controlled visuality leveraged in systems of separation and punishment. Using both a representational and conceptual approach, the work reflects Chantal’s efforts to find meaning in a dramatically changing and unstable world.
